Chapter 9: I'll think of one later:)

Chapter 9: I'll think of one later:)

A/N:

Hey :) I bet you all hate me here for not posting in almost a month, or even worst, over a month! I am soooooo sorry! I got major writer's block, and writing 3 stories, 1 poem, 1 book to suggest books to read it proven to be too much for me. But I'm not putting any stories on hold, unless it's desperate.... And I got some personal business to solve, and I just came back from Sydney..... I'm a very busy person :)

Anyways, here's the chapter. I'm writing this at 9:30 in the night, and I have school tomorrow....

Enjoy!!!!!!!!!

Lol :)

Xx-Steph :)

Valkyrie's POV:

The crazy girl pounced straight at me. I stumbled back. 'Wow, she's strong for a human...'

I tried hard to peel her off, but she clung on tight, like a 5 year old clutching his/her mummy, not wanting to go to school.

But this girl was different. She was snarling, growling, occasionally and scratching at me. There was spittle flying everywhere on my face. I'm trying my best to not gag and throw up.

I was yearning to use some magic on her, but she's a human. I can't do that. I punched her in the face, but got a scratch on my arm instead. I cried out in pain. Man this girl was strong. What's wrong with her? She's like as if she has magic.... But we would know if she does....

I was holding back on the magic, but Skulduggery wasn't. He twisted the cloaking sphere, stuffed it back in his pocket, snapped his fingers, and started throwing fire balls at the girl.

I was stunned. This girl is a human. She can't see that we have magic!

But that was erased when she started scratching me. Her nails growing bigger and bigger, sharper. It penetrated through my protective clothing.

She dragged her hands down, and leaving three satisfied wounds, with blood oozing out.

I cried out in pain and surprise. How did she do it? Nothing can penetrate Ghastly's clothing. Nothing! Okay, this girl officially is not normal.

I gathered a bunch of shadows in my fist, and punched her in the stomachs. She grunted, looking pained but didn't move. What?

She pined both of my hands down, so I wouldn't inflict anymore pain on her. I looked over at Skulduggery, only to see him dealing with the girl's dog. The god has grown huge! Like a werewolf.

I struggled with her, but she held on tight. Too tight.

Since she pinned both of my hands down, and is currently half kneeling, half laying on top of me, I got no other weapon but my legs.

I brought one leg up, pushing in between the space that was left by the girl, and kicked her.

I got her by surprise, and she doubled over, gasping for air, but didn't move.

I tried it again, and again, and again, until she rolled over, gasping for air. I quickly stood up, then crouched down, and started firing power slaps. Just in case you don't know what it is, it's as strong as a punch, but it doesn't break your knuckles.

"Stop it Valkyrie." I heard Skulduggery said behind me. I looked at the girl, to find her nearly unconscious.

"Wait." I said, and lightly rapped my knuckles against her chin, and she fainted.

"There." I said. "What is she? She definitely isn't a human. She is way too strong to be one, but has got no powers. What on earth is she?"

"She is a victim of the Hattinggabi Lason. Unfortunately. That's why we can't kill her. She is a good girl in real life."

"How did you know her?" I asked, feeling a tiny bit jealous that Skulduggery knows this girl. I looked down at her again, and through that entire bruise, she is quiet pretty.

I was getting very jealous. Why am I jealous?

"No, but Ravel has send me a few people who is probably in this building, who is also effected by the Hattinggabi Lason. She is a nice human. An A-plus student, popular, but not mean. Liked by many, but is jealous by many too." He said.

"Oh." I said, looking up from the girl, into the empty eye socket of Skulduggery.

"So how are we going to deal with the body? And also," I said, remembering about the dog, "why did that dog," I pointed to where the dog used to be, only to find it missing. "Turn so big? And where is it now?" I asked.

"Well, that is one of the guard dogs from the person who leaked Hattinggabi Lason into this world. It's just for him to keep an eye on the ones who has been affected. It's got magical powers. I send it back to Ravel for examination, and maybe force an answer out of it."

"So they are going to torture the poor dog?" I asked, eyes following Skulduggery as he bend down to pick the unconscious girl up.

"No they won't, but they will find a way to make it tell them. But remember Valkyrie that dog is evil. It was programmed to be evil." He replied, and then the girl disappeared.

"Let me guess, you send her back to Ravel?"

"Yep!" he said, popping the p.

"So how did she know we were here?"

"I'm guessing it's a coincident, that she lives here as well. Since I found these-"He held out a set of keys, "- in her pocket."

"You always have to and snoop, don't you?" I said, smiling.

"Yep." He said.

I gave him a look.

"What?" he asked.

"Nothing. Just how weird you are. And you got a little something on your face....." I trailed off.

"Where?" he asked, panicking.

"All over here!" I drew circles in front of my face, showing him what I'm talking about.

"Valkyrie!" he exclaimed.

"What?" I exclaimed back with the same enthusiasm as him.

He sighed. "Don't worry. You are so hopeless." He muttered the last part.

"I'll pretend I didn't hear that!" I said, and started walking down the corridor.

"Um, Val? It's the other way." Said Skulduggery.

"I knew that!" I spun around, and marched down the other way. I snatched our room key from his pocket while walking past.

"3045.... 3048.... 3053.... 3055! Ah ha!" I said, and slide the card down. It didn't work the first time. I tried again. It didn't work. I tried again, but kept failing. Skulduggery just stood there, looking very amused.

I finally gave up. "Okay, Skulduggery, please help me?" I asked.

"Okay. But I have to admit, watching you try and open that door but failing, was better than those comedy shows on TV." He grinned.

I glared at him, heaved a sigh, and gave him the room key, which was a card. He took it. "Thank you very much."

He inserted the card, and pulled it out almost immediately, and it flashed green!

"What? This is not fair. I've tried billion times, but it didn't work, and now you try, and get it to work straight away! Humph!" I crossed my arms, and walked in sulkily.

I grumbled under my breath, and looked up to see our hotel room.

What I had in mind was a simple hotel room, with a living room, some couches, a kitchen, two bedrooms, and maybe a balcony, but I did not expect this.

A huge suite, with huge balcony, walking straight out into a beautiful view of the ocean, big flat screen TV, fancy pictures, fancy French double doors which led I presumed the bedroom.

I walked over to another door, which had nice designs on it, and opened it.

Inside was a suite bathroom. With fancy mirrors, huge sink, huge wall length mirror, mini bottles of soap and a big bath tub, with all sorts of handles to turn on the water, which I'm dying to try.

I gaped in awe. This is amazing!

I walked over to the double French door, opened it, and stepped in.

I don't think anyone heard my jaw hit the ground at the sight of the bedroom. It had a double, no triple king size bed, another suite bathroom, a walk-out balcony with a gorgeous beach view, crystal chandelier dangling above the bed. The ceiling was so high, a HUGE chandelier was able to fit and have plenty space for three people, standing on top of each other!

"Wow! Thank you Skulduggery!" I exclaimed, spun around, and hugged Skulduggery who was standing behind me the whole time.

"You're welcome, but did you know that this wasn't our room?" He said, hesitantly.

"What?" I all but screamed.

"Yeah. This is a 6 stars hotel room, and our one is a 1 star hotel room....." He trailed off.

"Oh my god, you got me all excited, and then you say that we aren't living here? humph!" I said, crossing my arms, and sat down on the triple king sized bed angriliy.

He kept quiet for a bit, studying my expression, then cracked up laughing.

I stared at him astonished. How can he laugh now? and what is he laughing about? All these questions were bubbling in my head.

He finally calmed down. "I'm just joking! You should've seen your face!" he mused, laughter covering his words.

I sat there, gaping like a fish, mouth closing then opening again, most likely looking like a fish in the water.

How dare he? Tricking me like this, literally gave me a heart attack! I seriously want to hit him, so that's what I did.

I punched him in the stomach, since that's the easiest place I could reach. He doubled over in pain.

He wheezed out "What was that for?"

"That was for tricking me." I huffed.

"But you didn't have to punch so hard!" he said, clearly still in pain.

"Just be glad that I haven't ruined any chances of you ever having another baby." I said, with fake anger.

"Oh, and just to let you know, I'm taking the bedroom. Where are you going to sleep?" I just realized how stupid that sounds after it came out of my mouth.

"I don't sleep. I meditate. There's my comfy chair, from home, brought here by the courtesy of Ghastly so I can meditate, or as you say it, sleep."

"Right. I forgot." I said. "Do we have to investigate, or can we get down the beach? I need a tan. I'm getting way to pale." I looked down at my hand, hitched my pants up a little, and stared at my legs, then looked up at Skulduggery.

He had a strange look on his face, but that was soon covered up. "You're not pale. I think you look just perfect. And we have to go and report to the Australian sanctuary about what happened today." He said.

"Kay. Where is the Australian sanctuary?"

"It's in Canberra...."

"What? Then why are we here?" I asked.

"Because I like this hotel room." he simply said.

"And you couldn't have found a good hotel like this in Canberra?"

"Nah. Couldn't be stuffed. Anyways, they are sending someone over to take us there. I think it's a wizard or something."

"So that wizard will be our travel person around Australia?"

"Yep. Now get ready. He is coming to pick us up now. Hurry hurry!" he shooed me into the bedroom, chucking my suitcase in as well.

I closed the double door, jumped on the bed. It was soft, fluffy, and bouncy. I laid there, looking up at the chandeliers. Oh how they sparkle wonderfully in the light. I sighed in content.

I don't know how long I've laid there for, but suddenly, I remembered what I had to do.

I jumped up from the bed, nearly sprinting to the bathrooms. Along the way, I grabbed my tooth brush, face washer, and all the essential things that I need.

I started stripping as soon as one foot is in the bathroom, while putting tooth paste on my tooth brush. I stuffed it in my mouth, opened the shower. I didn't even wait for it to become nice and warm. I just jumped in. I half screamed at the coldness that hit me, but still started washing.

When I was done, I stepped out, with the smoke from the hot water surrounding me, and wrapped myself in a fluffy towel on the hangers. It was warm. Like someone put it on a toaster.

When I dried my body, I started drying my hair. I scrubbed it with the towel, and left it.

I hate using a hair dryer. I like using the natural wind to dry my hair.

I padded out of the bathroom, only to find my fighting clothes, or as I like to call it, my protective clothing, lay out on the bed.

There were voices outside the room. I'm guessing that the wizard has come.

I quickly pulled on my pants, then my shirt. I really like it over-all. Even though it's not meant to be too fashionable. Just comfy, and can protect you.

I brushed my hair, looked at my appearance one last time, grabbed my phone, and walked out.

There was a man, whom I guess is the wizard, and Skulduggery. They both looked over at me when they heard the door open.

I walked over to the couches that they were sitting on, and a silence settled over us.

"So, you ready to go? I think I've grown a beard for how long I've waited." Joked Skulduggery.

I lightly, no very hardly punched Skulduggery in the arms. He winced, and rubbed at the spot.

"Ouch. Dang girl, don't have to punch so hard!" he said.

I sighed, and looked over at the man. He was middle aged, fair skin, brown hair and light blue eyes.

I extended my hand "Hi. I'm Valkyrie."

He shook my hands. "I'm Josh. It nice to meet you." He planted a kiss on my knuckles.

"Okay. So can we go now?" Came Skulduggery, annoyance clear in his voice. What has he's boxer in a twist?

"Sure thing." Josh said, and he changed. I mean literally, changed.

He was once a middle aged man, and the next second he is a very hot 18 years old! He now has still the light blue eyes, full lips, dark brown hair, and smooth skin. I literally melted in my spots as soon as I met his eyes.

"How on earth did you do that? And which one of you is the real one?" I asked Josh, astonished.

"This one is the real me. I could change into anyone I want. But as you can see, my eyes don't change colors." He said.

"So can we like leave now? I thought we were in a hurry." Said Skulduggery, even more agitated. Oh my god, he really needs to sort out his issues.

"Yes, we are ready." He said, and held out his hands for me to grab on to. I took it gratefully, and turned around, holding out my hands for Skulduggery to take. He looked like he wanted to say something, but held the comment back.

He stepped forward, took a hold of my hands. He nodded at Josh.

Josh said "billa bong, move alone, to the Australian sanctuary." He nodded at the end, and we disappeared. Again.

- I was thinking of leaving you guys here, but I'm not entirely that mean. So I'm just going to continue :) -

The sensation of traveling with a wizard was weird. It wasn't like the feeling when Fletcher transported us to Australia. The dizzy feeling for the first timers, the nice buzzing feeling for people who have done it many times.

This feeling was like free falling. I could feel the wind blowing against me, my stomach dropping down to the bottom of the ocean, and the slight ache in the pit of my stomach. I love it!

And in 3 mins, were here in Canberra! I got this nagging feeling in my head about something that I forgotten to tell Skulduggery.

I've came to Canberra before. I lived here for 2 years for a student exchange program. The family I moved into was horrible! I hated them. They have a spoiled daughter. Her name is Callie. She is always flirting with any boy she sees, wears tight short skirt, make-up caked face. But luckily, I punched their daughter in the face, rearranging it, making it look better than before. Much better.

Improved how, you may ask, well, let's just say, one day I got irritated at her. She was going on and on about how her make-up was smudged today by a nerd and she have to run to the toilet, embarrassing her. I got even more annoyed because of her voice. It was a frilly, high pitched voice. I still shivered at the thought of her voice.

I just couldn't hold back. I punched her. Hard. And then she fainted. My thought then was 'Thank god. I thought I was going to be deaf soon!'

So her face has got a bloody purple bruise. It makes her face look a lot more natural than her normal face.

And then I was back in Ireland a few days after the incident. Apparently I can't punch your foster family while you're in another country. Bull.

I wonder if I might accidently see her somewhere here. Oh, and the school. I went to school for a while here as well, and I was the most popular girl there. Callie wasn't popular. Unless you count being a slut, or someone's favorite topping of the week as popular, then yep. She was a slut. Just a slut. I hope I won't see anyone from my old school....

We appeared in dark alley way. "Okay. Follow me. The Australian sanctuary is in a cafe." He spoke while walking. "The guy who worked in the cafe is an Elemental."

I can finally see the end of the alley way now. Wow, this alley way is long. I just remembered. "Hey Josh, what is this cafe's name?"

"It's Pink Cafe." He replied.

"Oh." I said. Why that name does seem so familiar? Oh! It where Callie and her so called 'friends' hang out, being girly girls, and flirting with the cafe worker.

"Um Skulduggery," He turned to look at me. We're nearly at the end of the alley way. Better tell him now. "I used to live here in Canberra for a year. In a student exchange program. And I got sent into this really annoying, fake family. Their daughter, who annoyed me the most, is called Callie. I punched her one day. Don't ask why. Long story short, she was being a -excuse me language- slut, bitch to this poor girl. So I punched her."

"Okay and I guess that you are going to say next that her favorite hang-out spot is Pink Cafe?" He said.

"How did you know? This is slightly creepy...." I trailed off.

"Oh, it's just that I've been your partner for so long, I always know what you're going to say. Aren't I smart?" He smiled, looking proud of himself.

"My god. No need to boost you huge ego. It's already big enough." I sighed.

All this time, Josh just looked at us amused, and something else. Acknowledgment. Of what? I don't know. I'll ask him later.

"Ouch. I'm hurt." He said, cradling at the place where his heart should be. I shook my head.

"Okay guys, we all know that you both are childish. So Skulduggery, you might want to hide your face. We don't want people to get scared of your skeleton head." Said Josh, cutting in to our conversation.

"So you say that the rest of me am not a skeleton? And that I'm scary? Thanks a lot." Said Skulduggery, with sarcasm dripping of his words, but still followed Josh's instruction.

We finally made it out of the long alley way. I was getting very claustrophobic in there.

The beautiful sunlight of Canberra hit my face as soon as I stepped out of the alley way. The street was exactly how I remembered it to be. Busy, with teenagers swarming shops, and restaurants in groups.

Josh led us to the pink cafe. Alone the way, we could see girls almost drooling at the look of the Greek god, even though he isn't Greek. But he took no notice in it.

We arrived at the Pink Cafe. I pushed open the door, to find there's no one there. Good. I don't feel like dealing with Callie today, and I don't want her to ask questions about anything.

At the sound of the door opening, the guy looked up from the place behind the counter he was working at, and broke out into a huge grin at me.

"Hey Valkyrie! How've you been? The last time you've been here, was 2 years ago! You've grown a lot!" He ran out from behind the counter, to give me huge bear hug.

I hugged him back. "Hey Zach! Sorry I have to leave so soon. They kinda sent me home after the incident with Callie. Speaking of her, as she tried to make her move on you yet?" I wiggled my eyebrows at him.

"Callie? She tried many times. It was disturbing to see. Her cheap perfume, make-up caked face, and skimpy looking dress. Imprint in my mind forever." He said, and shivered.

"In a good way imprinted, or a bad way?"

"A terrible way. I felt like vomiting."

"Then why didn't you? It might make her look better with some vomit. Like that purple bruise I gave her."

He chuckled at the memory. "Hey man." He nodded to Josh.

"Oh how rude I am." I said, jumping out of Zach's hug. "Zach, this is Skulduggery, my partner in crime, my best friend, and according to him, his accessory. Skulduggery, this is Zach. My best friend here in Canberra. He still is my best friend even though I'm not in Canberra." I added at the end, seeing Zach's face.

"He was here when Callie pissed me off. He always gave me a drink that isn't girly, and talked to me. Making me less revengeful." I smiled at Zach.

"Yep. That's what best friends are for. So, I presume that you are here to see the grand-"He got cut off by the sound of the door open, and a bunch of girls came in. and at the front, I saw Callie. Great. Just talked about her and here she is. I looked at Skulduggery, making sure that his facade is on properly, and was nearly drooling over him. He was hot! Today he got dark hair, dark eyes. Making him look mysterious, but hot. So were Zach and Josh. Wow, being surrounded by three hot guys, and a bunch of sluts there, gaping over them, is definitely not one of the things I want to be in the middle of. But it's kinda hard.

Callie made her move after whispering a few things in her friends' ears, but loud enough for us to hear 'Bet you a smoothie that one of the hotties will be my f buddy by today.' And started walking towards us, swaying her hips side by side, trying to look seductive, but just made her look like a really clumsy penguin, paddling across. I made a face to Skulduggery, and he grinned, and then nodded at it.

"Hey guys. You look slightly bored. Thought I should keep you company." She said, biting the corner of her lip. I was biting my lip until I tasted blood. It was too funny to see.

I could see the others trying not to laugh out loud.

She then noticed me. "Wait, aren't you Stephanie?"

Oh my god. What am I going to do now?

........

A/N: Finally. Done. I want to post more, but our teacher is getting us kicked off the computer in 5 mins. And I need to do other editing's. So until next time. I'll be trying to post quicker this time. I hope :) hope you haven't given up on this story yet....
